Nuns Built a Snowman During a Rare Winter Storm in the Vatican

The seminarians were off having a snowball fight, naturally.

When it only snows once every six years or so, you have to make the most of the flurries. So after a rare winter storm blanketed Rome in the white stuff, the priests and nuns of the Vatican took full advantage.

In St. Peter's Square, a snowball fight broke out between the seminarians from the Pontifical North American College and those of the English College, according to Twitter user Molly Burhans.


According to Travel + Leisure, it's unclear who won the battle. Meanwhile, local nuns built a series of snowmen nearby:



The snow, which stemmed from an extreme cold front nicknamed the "Beast from the East," was gone almost as quickly as it came. According to Time, most of it had melted by noon.
