Pia, the marketing manager of Enderun, and Pach, vice-president for sales and marketing at Espa-fil import export, tied the knot at the Iglesia De San Manuel y San Benito in Madrid, Spain.
Tell us how you met?
We met while we were both living in Madrid. I thought Pach was really friendly and funny, and we became friends right away. After both of us had already been back in Manila for a while, Pach set up a dinner with a few other friends at Little Tokyo in Makati and we had a grand time. He and I moved on to have a drink at a bar in Salcedo Village and had a catch-up session until 3 in the morning.
What do you appreciate most about your husband?
Pach is very caring, and he thinks about everyone else before himself. He would sit through hours of traffic going the opposite direction just to deliver a present on time if he knows it would mean a lot. He is also very systematic and organized, which complements my artistic and sometimes scattered brain. He is the Excel spreadsheet to my Photoshop.
How did he propose?
We had planned a trip to El Nido for our anniversary because he had never been. Coincidentally, my best friend and her husband had planned a trip there the same weekend, so we organized a private dinner for the four of us on one of the islands. When we arrived, I saw five place settings, not four. My mom then popped out of the shadows. Pach had flown her to El Nido for the proposal because he remembered that I said that I wanted my mom and my close friends to be there if he were to propose. He also put the ring inside a miniature Shakey’s pizza box. Yes, I really like Shakey’s.
Unforgettable moments for your wedding?
The welcome lunch the day before the wedding at Pach’s father’s hometown in Campo Real, Spain. It was casual, the weather was perfect, people got drunk, and there was a bull. It was perfect.
We plan to go to Vancouver in April for spring skiing in Whistler (Pach has never been skiing, and I want to show him where I spent six years of university) then down to Mexico and Peru!
