WATCH: Audrey Zubiri Walks Into Her Surprise Party-Wearing Curlers

At first she was mortified, and her husband, Senator Miguel Zubiri, exultant, but as far as surprises go, this one was definitely a success.

For his wife Audrey Tan-Zubiri’s birthday, Senator Miguel Zubiri decided to throw a truly unforgettable surprise party.

In the video, a stunned Audrey opens the front door to a group of her closest family and friends greeting her a happy birthday. Audrey was clad in a red dress and was gorgeous as always. But the real highlight, however, was her hair full of rollers. Watch her reaction below:

Audrey recounted the night to T&C saying, "I usually set my hair in curlers before leaving for parties and take them off in the car before getting down to maximize the volume. That night, Migs had told me that we were going to a friend's birthday dinner so I went about my usual routine and set my hair. On our way out, Migs suggested we drop off our youngest son, Santi, at my mom's house (one street away from our home) for dinner since the two older kids were there and we would be out too."

She continues, "In the car, Migs received a call from our daughter, Adriana, saying her brother Juanmi fell and was looking for me. Naturally, I said I would go down and check on him when we arrived at my mom's home. Since we were not yet at the party and just at my mom's house, I went down and kept my curlers on. Migs was carrying Santi and asked me to "get the door", which I did and that was when I received the big surprise!"

"It took me a moment to realize that it was a surprise party for me and another moment to realize that I still had my curlers on! At that point, I didn't know whether to run back out to the car, hide behind Migs or what! I ended up going behind the door with my friends helping remove my curlers while laughing because by then, the whole situation had become pretty funny and served as a great way to kick off the night's celebration," the celebrant said.

Of the surprise, Audrey said on Instagram, “I can't stop laughing over that SURPRISE! Surprised to see everyone and then that moment when I realized I'm still in my curlers and standing in front of all my friends and family!” she then thanked her mother Dette and husband Miguel for the giving her the most memorable birthday ever.

Planning the surprise wasn’t an easy feat, in fact, it was a combined effort from the whole family. Audrey’s mother Dette Aquino-Tan took charge of inviting the celebrant’s closest friends with the help of the couple’s daughter Adriana, Miguel then invited other family and friends while coming up with, as Audrey says, “a believable story for last night (so believable I kept my rollers on thinking I was just checking on Juanmi).”

The celebration's guests included Anna Palabyab-Rufino, Jonathan Crespi, Stephanie Zubiri-Crespi, Tim Yap, Dawn Zulueta-Lagdameo, Vicky Zubiri, Tootsy Angara, Tessa Prieto-Valdes,  Ana Lorenzana De Ocampo, and Kathy Yap-Huang. Audrey reflected on the night through an Instagram post saying, “How I love this wonderful group of the most loving and supportive friends who turn every moment together into a memory filled with joy.”
