There's a Hotline You Can Use to Report Corruption at Customs

Corruption is nothing new in the Philippines—to put it lightly—so any move to combat it is most welcome. The Bureau of Customs certainly hasn't been winning any awards in the Most Trustworthy category but at the very least, they're trying. The next time a loved one sends over a balikbayan box, keep in mind that Customs now has the 8484 text hotline where people can easily report Bureau of Customs (BOC) officials or employees for incidents of corruption or anything else illegal.

Be sure to include the complete details of the incident you wish to report; answer the What, When, Where, Who, Why, and How questions so Customs can respond accordingly. As of now, the text hotline is available 24/7 for Globe or TM users only, but the bureau is working on adding more networks.
Customs put up this hotline specifically to address corruption within the bureau. It was made "for the public in order to voice their complaints without fear of retaliation and most importantly, to help the bureau get rid of corrupt practices from among its ranks," goes the official BOC statement.
