In the age when smartwatches have practically become a daily necessity, the product has grown so ubiquitous, many may forget its style potential. Still, a number of fashion brands have seen the opportunity in dressing up the Apple Watch in just its nylon band or sports band, and have applied their luxury business acumen and skills to the gizmo world.

Last September 2018, Hermès released its exclusive collaboration with Apple. The storied French fashion house, known for its heritage of producing excellent leather goods, translated this rich history into the rigid technology that is the smartwatch. The collection for the Apple Watch Series 4 features four different leather styles, each representing one of the brand’s style elements or a part of its storied heritage.

For example, the Single Tour Rallye design references the French brand’s iconic leather driving gloves. For those who want a simple, solid leather band, Hermès has the Single Tour design, bringing to mind the straps on a leather saddle (which the brand specializes in since its nascent years).

Another brand that dipped its toes into the luxury smartwatch craze was American jewelry company Lagos. The brand released a four-piece collection of fine jewelry Apple Watch iterations, including a sterling silver watch, a two-tone silver and gold watch, and for those who love to flaunt a dazzling wrist, there’s one fully decked out in diamonds that will set you back a cool $8,500. You can even opt to have your initials engraved on the timepiece.

Probably one of the early purveyors of the luxurious and unique take on the modern smartwatch, Tom Ford released a snazzy pocket watch in 2015 which elicited many gasps in admiration of his design and the nostalgia it brought with it. While the piece was available for a limited time only, there is a just-as-impressive piece from Bucardo. The brand carries various ways to fashion a watch: lockets, charm necklaces, and yes, pocket watches. Our pick is the Gold Hammered Pocket Watch for its discreet look. Think of it as your grandfather’s modern, cool take on the dangling timepiece.

To end this quick roundup is Russian brand Caviar’s flashy line of caviar-inspired, diamond-encrusted watches. As rare and valuable as caviar, the brand’s most expensive Apple Watch will set you back by $9,520—it’s studded with 130 diamonds. If that sounds too intense for you, well there are less extravagant options like their classic Milanese model, a simple gold-strapped piece. But if caviar really is the way you swing, then you might as well browse through the Black Caviar and Red Caviar models—sprinkled with black diamonds and scarlet rubies, respectively.

Apple Watches are still very relevant today, so it’s only a matter of asking: Which brand will snag this luxury opportunity next?
