Supermodel Natalia Vodianova on the One Person Who Makes Her Feel Starstruck
Between her modeling career and her five children, model Natalia Vodianova certainly keeps busy, but even with her hectic schedule, she knows the importance of giving back.
This weekend, Vodianova is bringing her Fabulous Fund Fair, a fundraiser for amFAR, the Foundation for AIDS research, and the Naked Heart Foundation, which helps children with special needs, to New York City.
Here, the Russian-born supermodel dishes on her best travel tips and the one person who makes her feel starstruck, as well as how you can attend this year's charity event.
WHAT CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THE FABULOUS FUND FAIR?
The main thing you need to know is that Fabulous Fund Fair is that it's no ordinary charity dinner. It’s a completely different atmosphere, where both the guests and the sponsors are encouraged to have fun while helping the charity. Fundraisers are one of the main sources of income for Naked Heart Foundation, helping children with special needs back in my home country, and it’s important for us to find new ways of making them interesting, and give our donors something totally fresh. The Fund Fair allows you to connect with your inner child and reminds you again how important it is to feel that sense of happiness and the thrill of good fortune and opportunity that a fair brings. Imagine driving Louis Vuitton bumper cars or playing bowling to win Net-a-Porter NET-A-PORTER prizes.
The games are your favorite carnival attractions but prizes are kindly donated by brands like Dior, Guerlain, Stella McCartney, and Givenchy, to name just a few! And it’s all for a good cause—by participating you support Naked Heart Foundation and also amfAR—we’re partnering with them for the first time in New York for our Halloween edition of the

DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY.
There’s no perfect scenario—I’m constantly on the go and each day is different. I try hard to balance between work commitments and my duties as a mother, and the ideal day is when I can achieve what I wanted in both areas. I wake up around 7 a.m. in order to see my eldest children off to school and then get busy with my charity initiatives or on certain days fulfilling contracts, and the time just flies by. But on most days I’m home by 7 p.m. for dinner.
WHAT IS YOUR BEST TRAVEL HACK?
Before an early flight, I try to force myself to bed an hour earlier. Sleep is essential. For a boost of energy after a long travel, I love some rooibos tea. It’s caffeine free, so I don’t feel I have to limit it, and it has all the antioxidants, which seem to make a difference. As an alternative, I have an organic green juice—not only does it make you feel good, but also guarantees a punch of energy, which is crucial when recovering from jet lag.
DO YOU HAVE ANY BEAUTY SECRETS?
My beauty routine is really quite simple because I don't have time for doing something long. I always make sure I clean my face and remove any makeup before going to bed, and always put my moisturizer on day and night. Apart from that nothing too complicated. Before an important shoot or when I'm too tired I love going to Balmain Hair Couture and their spa to regenerate—they have amazing facials, hair treatments, and massages. I also love going to Leonor Greyl every fortnight or so to get my hair done.
IS THERE ANYONE WHO MAKES YOU FEEL STARSTRUCK?
Definitely Jeff Koons! Compared to any other artists' work, Jeff's is extremely rare. I'm an admirer of his art and especially of what he does
TWITTER OR INSTAGRAM? WHO ARE YOUR MUST-FOLLOWS ON THE PLATFORM?
Long-term friends that support me throughout the years like Ulyana Sergeenko, Doutzen Kroes, Karlie Kloss, Derek Blasberg, Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott, Mariacarla Boscono, Riccardo Tisci, and iconic mentors from the fashion industry such as Grace Coddington, Peter Lindbergh, Mario Testino, Edward Enninful, Stella McCartney.
And of course I enjoy following the Naked Heart Foundation—love seeing those updates from our family support centers for children with special needs in Russia and @Elbi our home for philanthropy where you can go every day to do a little action that brings a big difference!
FILL IN THE BLANK: PEOPLE ARE MOST LIKELY TO COME TO ME FOR ADVICE ABOUT__________.
Charity work and being a mother! With five children, I can surely share some tips here.
WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU EVER RECEIVED?
Someone once told me this motto that I now live by "See the goal and do not to see the obstacles."
