Off-White designer Virgil Abloh is known for his boundary-pushing creations, and his latest collaboration is no different. Pairing up with Jimmy Choo, Abloh brings his fresh aesthetic into the world of luxury footwear.

To launch the much-awaited collaboration, Jimmy Choo creative director Sandra Choi and Abloh hosted an intimate dinner at Chelsea’s Taglialatella Galleries. The guest list included Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Naomi Campbell, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, among other stars.

Fashion’s most influential were welcomed by a banquet served on marble tables adorned with Kurt Rausch installations that included ranunculus, anemones, French tulips, English garden roses, silver ferns, and ivy vines.

The capsule collection, first presented in Paris at the Off-White ready-to-wear show, artfully mixes the cult fashion label’s distinct style with the luxury accessories brand’s DNA. Abloh paid tribute to one of Jimmy Choo’s most famous devotees, Princess Diana, to create the nine shoe silhouettes. The late princess’ signature styles were redesigned with the addition of conceptual plastics, tulles, and explosive florals.

Abloh shared how the collection came to be in an interview with WWD, “I’d met Sandra [Choi] at the Bowery Hotel, and I always had this idea within my collection to sort of get more specific and storytell.” He figured he was working on a collection that was a tribute to Princess Diana and Jimmy Choo was a shoemaker making shoes for her. "I thought it could have been a cool way to relate the product and the narrative of Princess Diana to a younger audience,” he said.

Said Choi, “To collaborate with a brand like Off-White allows Jimmy Choo to explore a new avenue and take part in a different conversation. I love to mix it up by getting together with a different creative mind identifying our synergies and combining our DNA to create a beautiful and surprising collection with unexpected links to the roots of our brand.”
