Investing in a new pair of jeans can be tricky business. With so many different fits and styles to choose from, where does one even begin?

Some may come to the conclusion that it’s probably the best decision to stick to what one already has in one's closet. After all, they’re just jeans, right?

Wrong! Not all jeans are created equal. Having grown up with the film The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series, I believe in that elusive, “magical” pair of jeans that looks flattering on almost anyone, and after endless searching for this season’s perfect silhouette, I believe I’ve found a winner in the high-rise, straight crop.

Also known as “upscale, mom jeans”, this vintage-inspired cut was resurrected back into relevance by the brand Re/Done, and was a staple in the closets of a number of Instagram It Girls early this 2018. It is compared to the “mom jean” because it shares the same high-waist, but whereas the mom jean is a typically, baggy style, the high-rise, straight crop tends to be more tailored. The cropped hem makes it excellent for pairing with sandals or high heels, a perfect way to contrast a street style look with ultra-feminine elements.

There are infinite ways to style these versatile jeans with your wardrobe: dress them up by pairing them with a high-neck, silk blouse for the office, or with a frilly, crop top or a bodysuit for a stylish, night out. My favorite way to wear it is with a tucked-in T-shirt and a blazer. When traveling, pair with a long trench coat and boots. This pair of jeans easily lends itself to a lot of different wearing occasions (from dressy to casual) and outfits, so I guarantee you aren’t going to need to shop for another pair for a while.
