Supermodel Gigi Hadid Designed the New FAO Schwarz Soldier Uniforms

The iconic New York toy store is reopening in November-and brought the A-list model in for some fashion consultation.

Like most kids, the young Gigi Hadid was obsessed with FAO Schwarz. "I remember going to the store as a kid and just running around, touching everything, and taking it all in," she told Harper's Bazaar.

But unlike us plebeians, the model got to come back as an adult and put her own stamp on the iconic toy store, which is reopening at 30 Rockefeller Center on November 16.

FAO Schwarz tapped Hadid to redesign the trademark toy soldier uniforms—so when you walk past the red-and-black-clad "guards" at the door, you'll see Hadid's work.

She teased the collaboration on Instagram with her original sketch for the black top hats. "My inner child has been bursting with excitement and pride" about the project, she added in a comment.

Hadid opted for a Moschino suit in tones of red, white, and black, which paired perfectly with her design for the toy soldiers. But her FAO Schwarz-themed manicure was what really stole the show.

Just three years after its Fifth Avenue storefront shuttered back in 2015, FAO Schwarz's new flagship is nearly complete.

As Hadid told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, there are even more things to experience in the new location. For one, when kids pick out a doll, they'll be "interviewed" by an "adoption agency" to ensure that they'll be a good parent to their inanimate child.

The shop is set to open just in time for Christmas—so parents can once again get their kids in the holiday spirit with a visit to everyone's favorite toy store.
