Like chocolate and peanut butter, some classics just get better when you put them together. For example, when you take J.Crew's quintessential Barn Jacket and add weather-proof waxed cotton and a cozy tartan lining courtesy of iconic British outwear specialist Barbour it creates the most preppy-perfect take on the go-everywhere jacket.

Originally designed in 1983, the corduroy-collared Barn Jacket gets an update from Barbour's 4 oz waxed cotton, a lighter version of their traditional 6 oz waxed cotton that's perfect for that transitional spring weather. The fabric also wards off spring showers, while the lining in Barbour's original tartan adds royal clout (the brand, which dates back to 1894, holds three separate royal warrants: from the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, and the Prince of Wales.)

This isn't the beginning of J. Crew's relationship with the British brand—in fact they've sold several classic Barbour styles as well as a collection of rain boots in the past. And based on the reception for those offerings, you can expect this new Barn Jacket to sell out fast.
