On Wednesday morning’s Megyn Kelly Today, Jane Fonda was not having host Megyn Kelly’s questions about plastic surgery. “We really want to talk about that now?” Fonda asked Kelly and then pivoted back to talking about her new movie with Robert Redford. And Fonda is apparently cringing along with the rest of us at the exchange.

Later that same day, Fonda talked to Entertainment Tonight Canada and reacted to the live-TV moment, saying she was “a little bit” shocked by the line of questioning. “I mean, the fact that we don’t have a lot of time, and [Redford] is right here, it was a weird thing to bring up, whether I’ve had plastic surgery or not,” she said. “I have, and I’ve talked about it, but it just seemed like the wrong time and place to raise that question.”

Kelly hasn’t commented publicly about the interview, but Redford told ET Canada that Fonda expertly handled the weirdness. "I think Jane didn't want to go there. I think she didn't want to have the show turn into about her, her surgery or her look. It was about the quality of the performance," he said, according to the New York Daily News.
