Here Comes the Braid

Left to right: Smashbox Always Sharp Waterproof Kohl Liner, Beauty Bar, Greenbelt 5, 757.5028; M.A.C Playland Lipstick in Sweet Experience, Rustan’s Makati, 813.3739; Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF 15, Rustan’s Makati, 813.3739; Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Impulsion, Rustan’s Makati, 813.3739; Make Up For Ever HD Blush, Shangri-La Plaza, 379.6193.

There’s something about loose fishtail braids that make brides look feminine, romantic, and sweet. Hairstylist Rick Diokno uses a curling iron, mousse, and setting spray to achieve a braided ‘do that looks almost like soft curls—only they’ll hold all night.

On Fatima: De Capricho feather design with diamond brills, rose cut diamond, and aquamarine drop earrings (price upon request), 5/F Podium South, Joya Lofts & Towers, Rockwell Center, Makati, 846.8607; Rosa Clara Mecado gown, Tower 3, The Residences, Greenbelt, Makati, 238.1310.

Eye Do

M.A.C Innocent Patentpolish Lip Pencil; Chanel Sakura (87) Joues Contraste Brush; M.A.C Waterproof Fluidline Brow Gelcreme in Dirty Blond; Elizabeth Arden Prevage Clinical Lash + Brow Enhancing Serum with Carton; Guerlain Les Voilettes Translucent Compact Powder, all at Rustan’s Makati, 813.3739.

A soft smoky eye in earth hues is the perfect wedding version of traditional dark eye makeup. If you normally go for hints of color around the eyes, you'll feel most comfortable with something similar at your wedding. Match the slightly stronger eye makeup with nude or natural pink lips for balance.

On Katarina: Jewelmer Joaillerie gold South Sea pearls with 1.46-carat diamonds set in 18k yellow gold (price upon request), Ground Floor, Glorietta 4, Makati, 729.6735; Rosa Clara Ulric gown, Tower 3, The Residences, Greenbelt, Makati, 238.1310.

A light, semi-shimmering palette on the eyes matches well with a highly tinted matte lip, such as red or a more pigmented fuchsia. Here, makeup artist Pong Niu blends a skin-tone color over the red lip edges to diffuse and create the illusion of a smaller lip and brushes over a white shimmer shadow on the inner corners of the eyes to make them look brighter and fresher. Hairstylist Bea Misa adds soft but solid waves on the bangs for the elegant retro effect.

On Katarina: Jewelmer Joaillerie white South Sea pearls with 0.682-carat diamond set in 18k white gold (price upon request), Ground Floor, Glorietta 4, Makati, 729.6735; Rosa Clara Maldivas gown, Tower 3, The Residences, Greenbelt, Makati, 238.1310.

There’s a way to convert the smoldering dark eye into something safe for a bride. Here, makeup artist Mickey See uses matte eye shadow in gray, sand, and brown hues for a diffused version and matches the look with ultra-nude lips.

On Fatima: De Capricho dangling earrings of diamond brills and blue sapphire (price upon request), 5/F Podium South, Joya Lofts & Towers, Rockwell Center, Makati, 846.8607; Rosa Clara Uvsina gown, Tower 3, The Residences, Greenbelt, Makati, 238.1310.
