The Woman Behind the Local Beauty Brand Promoting Clean and Healthy Living
Jean Javier, founder of Simple Mama talks balance, healing, and healthy habits.
What keeps you busy?
I am primarily a mother and a homemaker. Recently I ventured into the interesting world of mom communities on social media via my home-based business, SimpleMamaPh. It has always been a passion of mine to promote whole, clean, healthy living through the everyday products we use, and SimpleMamaPh is an avenue that distributes those kinds of products.
I have always been a minimalist. I wash my face each morning with our Pure Clean clarifying facial wash. If I feel that my skin is a bit lackluster, I scrub it down with the Pure Clean scrub to exfoliate. Once a week, I use our charcoal-based Pure Detox line to strip my skin of any buildup. For my hair, I use Pure Clean shampoo and conditioner because I had to struggle with alopecia many years ago and our formulation has kept my mane pretty healthy.
What’s in your makeup bag?
Truth be told I have never been a makeup person. I am a big believer in skin care because amazing skin trumps any kind of makeup any day, but I do I carry loose powder, blush, and SimpleMamaPh bubble gum lippie.
What is your evening makeup look?
On the rare night out, I opt for full-coverage liquid foundation and strong smoky eyes in hues of gold.
How do you take care of your skin?
Any regular skin treatments? I live by the adage that you are what you eat. I am mindful of eating my greens because my skin immediately reflects it. I juice regularly to detoxify my skin from impurities. I find that when I maintain myself this way I am less likely to need regular diamond peels and facials, which I do every six months.
How do you maintain your physique?
I swim every other day.
How do you relax?
A really good massage with good essential oils and a candle burning.
Some say first impressions are everything.
What impression do you hope to leave through your personal look? If I were to be marveled at, I would like for it to be because of good glowing skin rather than well-made makeup.
What would you never compromise on?
I always say my grandmother. At her age, she is always complimented for her beauty and grace.

Best beauty advice you’ve ever received?
Take care of yourself, exercise, eat your greens, drink lots of water, don’t lose sleep, and laugh a lot.
Personal definition of beauty?
Beauty should not be manufactured. It should radiate from the heart. Health, happiness, an overall positive outlook on life, and being quietly confident in one’s own skin all contribute to making one beautiful.
What are you most grateful for?
My kids. My husband. My father, my grandmother. My family, basically. And my few but true good friends.
