The Immaculate Conception Academy (ICA) Falcons Batch of 1995 is soon marking its silver jubilee in 2020 and to celebrate, the women of the batch plan to give back in a fashionable manner. From this endeavor, the Art Print on Silk project was conceived. The batch initially commissioned power artist couple Cruz and her husband Rodel Tapaya to collaborate with renowned silk retailer Jim Thompson and create a collection of limited edition scarves printed with the artists’ own works. By limited, we mean only a hundred of these specially designed scarves were sold, as pairs, for pre-order. Each scarf contained comes with certificates of authenticity signed by the artists.

Proceeds from the sales will benefit the Immaculate Conception Scholarship Fund Inc., which offers financial support to an estimated 60 deserving ICAns and 140 student scholars from high schools and colleges located across the city of San Juan.

The project does not end there. Marina Cruz has generously donated an original work specially made for the ICA Falcons Batch. The painting on oil canvas entitled, "Flowers Floating on Fabric," will be put up for auction at Manila House on September 7, 2019. Bidding starts at P600,000 and full proceeds from the sale of the painting will go to the ICA Scholarship Fund.

Contemporary artist Marina Cruz was born in Manila and now resides and works in Bulacan. Cruz is known for her intricacy and her past work has revolved around the subject of textiles—specifically dresses. Each painting painstakingly captures every minute detail of fabric and its prints so much so that it creates a hyper-realistic effect.

"Flowers Floating on Fabric" will be up for auction on September 7 at Manila House. Interested parties may contact Dawn Yu Aquino at 09173191276 to RSVP and submit their bids.
