"Every 19 seconds, somewhere in the world, a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer," says Elizabeth Hurley in this year's edition of Estée Lauder's Breast Cancer Campaign video.

The fight against breast cancer continues, and in light of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we join in the call to arms. Here are some ways you can show your support and keep the conversation going.

Actively support a foundation or campaign

ICanServe Foundation

One of the loudest voices when it comes to Breast Cancer Awareness in the Philippines, the ICanServe Foundation relentlessly promotes early breast cancer detection through various campaigns. Its backbone is a network of cancer survivors who are keen on providing support to other women and shedding more light on the disease. Some of its bigger programs include “Ating Dibdibin” a community-based cancer screening program and several educational forums held around the country. Visit the pop-up booth at Power Plant, which sells ICanServe merchandise like its Bayongciagas, hand-painted bayong bags.

Estée Lauder Companies Breast Cancer Campaign

The Estee Lauder Group of Companies is one of the biggest brands that rallies behind the cause of breast cancer awareness since Evelyn H. Lauder co-founded the iconic Pink Ribbon and the ELC Breast Cancer Campaign in 1992. The following year, Lauder founded the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), which the annual campaign has raised $76 million for and has funded 250 medical grants.

This October, the Breast Cancer Campaign has released a moving video series called “Seconds Matter.” The series focuses on how life changes after one has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

The campaign is also launching worldwide activities to spark conversation about the illness. Informational brochures will be distributed, and monuments such as the Empire State Building and the Eiffel Tower will be illuminated in bright pink lights, and a call for donations to BCRF. Locally, Estee Lauder is hosting “Ride For a Cause,” where an afternoon of spinning at Electric Studio will benefit the fund. Every action will be documented through the hashtag #TimetoEndBreastCancer.

The venue provides a library and resource center for patients to gain more information about the illness and wellness-related topics. There are also cancer support groups, counseling, medical consultations offered by trained physicians, and wellness activities such as art, yoga, and dance classes, all free of charge. You can choose to support Carewell’s various projects by donating, volunteering, or purchasing its merchandise.
