Why Duchess Camilla Wasn't at Queen Elizabeth's Annual Christmas Lunch
The Queen's annual holiday lunch is one of the few events that gathers all of the royals together—around 50 of Elizabeth II's closest family members, to be exact. But this year, there were three notable absences: Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, and newlyweds Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank.
All, it would appear, missed the lunch for the same simple reason: illness. It is that time of the year, after all. Clarence House reported that Camilla was dealing with a bad cold; she also had to cancel an appearance at the Olympia Horse Show yesterday evening. (But don't despair. Between meeting Ollie the Donkey and Harry the Mini Shetland Pony, and two reindeer before that, the Duchess has been having plenty of animal interactions this month.)

Eugenie and Jack's illness seems to have come on quickly, as the pair attended charity premiere of the movie Sharkwater Extinction the night before. The couple reportedly began to feel "unwell" overnight.

One would hope that all three recover before Christmas. For her part, Queen Elizabeth has already made the trip up to Sandringham, the estate where the royals spend Christmas and New Year's. According to People, Prince William and Kate Middleton will stay with their three young children at their nearby home, Anmer Hall. The other half of the fab four, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, will also be in attendance for Christmas celebrations at Sandringham.
We'll get to see them all together on Christmas Day, during their annual walk to services at St Mary Magdalene—a royal tradition that Meghan just began taking part in last year.
