Meghan Markle's Nephew, Tyler Dooley, Will Star In a Royal-Themed Reality Show
Meghan Markle's family isn't exactly camera shy. Her father, Thomas Markle Sr. has made a habit of speaking out in the press since the royal engagement was announced, and her half-sister, Samantha Markle, has made headlines several times between the memoir she is writing, The Diary of Princess Pushy's Sister, and rumors of her purported involvement in the next season of Celebrity Big Brother. Now, the Duchess of Sussex's nephew, Tyler Dooley, is getting in on the act. He will be appearing in the upcoming MTV reality series, The Royal World.
Here's everything that we know about him so far.
HE IS THE SON OF MEGHAN'S HALF-BROTHER, THOMAS MARKLE JR.
Tyler and his older brother, Thomas, are the sons of Thomas Markle Jr. and Tracy Dooley, though the two are now divorced. Tyler has reportedly been estranged from his father for some time.
HE HAS FOND CHILDHOOD MEMORIES OF MEGHAN.
Though the two are not close as adults (he stated in a Good Morning Britainappearance, before the wedding that he had last spoken to her, "Probably about three years ago.") he did share some kind words about growing up around his aunt. "She was the fun one," Dooley told Inside Edition after sharing some 1991 home video with the show. "She was the one who just [said to] us, 'Hey, yeah, you can stay up late.' She was so cool; I wanted to be just like her."
HE DID NOT WATCH THE ROYAL WEDDING.
Along with his aunt Samantha and his mother, Tyler traveled to the UK for the royal wedding, but was not invited to the ceremony. During a promo from The Royal World reality show, however, he confessed, "I didn't watch the royal wedding, I'm sorry Meghan, I didn't. I was in London to support my Aunt Meghan. Honestly, with the controversy that's happened with my family, all I wanted to do was just show my support."
HE OWNS A CANNABIS COMPANY
Tyler founded the cannabis company Royally Grown along with his mother in Oregon (where cannabis growing is legal.) They developed a special strain of the plant called "Markle Sparkle" in honor of his royal relative, that's designed to be as "unique and individual" as Meghan, he told The Daily Mail. The strain reportedly sells for $280 per ounce.
HE WILL BE APPEARING ON THE MTV REALITY SHOW THE ROYAL WORLD.
Tyler has joined the cast of the new show, billed as "the world's first royal-ity TV show" which places royals and members of the aristocracy in a house together in the English countryside for a summer. Other cast members include a triple baroness and the son of a Nigerian chief, but Tyler views his role on the show differently. As the only American in the cast, he believes he represents, "More of the average person that could be watching this show," he said in a promotional trailer. The show will debut on November 7.
