GRACE KELLY
Creed

Leather supplier James Henry Creed turned to perfume in 1780, creating Royal English Leather for King George III. Prince Rainier of Monaco commissioned Fleurissimo, an elegant floral, in 1956 as a wedding gift for his bride, Grace Kelly.

Houbigant

Marie-Antoinette carried three vials of her beloved Houbigant fragrance to her execution—and maybe to her wedding. The house has since reimagined many of its regal scents, including Princess Adelaide D'Orleans' Quelques Fleurs Royale.

SULTAN QABOOS
Amouage

Founded by a member of Oman's royal family in 1983, Amouage makes scents inspired by the country's natural resources, from frankincense and myrrh to rock rose. An independent board oversees the house today, but the flacons' caps are an homage to the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in Muscat.

CZAR ALEXANDER II
Guerlain

Despite its French roots, the house of Guerlain spent much of its early history whipping up fragrances for Russian royals such as Czar Alexander II. Eau de Cologne Russe was created for him in the mid-19th century.

KATE MIDDLETON

Ever the trendsetter, the Duchess of Cambridge chose White Gardenia Petals, a breezy floral perfume by little-known British house Illuminum, for her wedding.

LADY DIANA SPENCER
Hermès 24 Faubourg

Diana, Princess of Wales, was known to have a signature scent, the Quelques Fleurs by Houbigant. Later in her life, she remained partial to an Hermès fragrance, as noted in the memoirs of her butler, Paul Burrell. The scent is comprised of white flowers and a heart of irises and woods.

MARIE ANTOINETTE
Lubin

Some years after the current owner of Lubin purchased the brand, he discovered the last vial of perfume the brand had produced for the French queen. He recreated the scent and called it “Black Jade,” which is still on the market today.

The princess appears to be fond of floral and light fragrances, preferring this concoction of tuberose and Egyptian Jasmine. The daughter of Grace Kelly must have taken after her mother’s love for flowery fragrances.

QUEEN ELIZABETH II
Floris

As reported by Telegraph, Floris refuses to reveal exactly which scent the Queen wears, but many speculate that she wears the White Rose, since her favorite flower is the carnation. The beauty company has held a royal warrant since 1820 and remains as Her Majesty’s appointed perfumer to this day.
