Turns out you weren't the only one brushing up on your royal family facts on Wikipedia. In fact, four royals and one soon-to-be royal made the list of the top 50 most-viewed Wikipedia pages of 2017.

Queen Elizabeth took the third spot overall (behind "Deaths in 2017" and Donald Trump), with a whopping 19.2 million views throughout 2017. As People magazine notes, this number of views is an increase from the Queen's rank on the 2016 list, when her Wikipedia page was 13th on the top 50 list. While royal family mania is at an all-time high, it wasn't just genuine curiosity that helped the Queen's page spike: the views peaked on December 10, just two days after The Crown season two was released on Netflix.

Coming in fifth on the list is future royal Meghan Markle. Markle's Wikipedia page earned 16.9 million views in 2017, peaking on November 27, 2017, which is when her engagement to Prince Harry was officially announced. This trend will no doubt continue in 2018 when Meghan and Harry marry this May. Markle was also recently named the most Googled actor of 2017.

This phenomenon is about more than just the Windsors, though—turns out we can't seem to get enough of past kings and queens as well. Queen Victoria took the 13th spot on the list, with 14.1 million views on her Wikipedia page in 2017.

While the second-longest reigning British monarch has been dead since 1901, her life continues to fascinate and inspire. In 2017, Victoria was the subject of Victoria & Abdul, a movie about the Queen's friendship with her royal footman. Additionally, PBS Masterpiece debuted Victoria, a drama series on the Queen's life, in the United States in January 2017, which is when views peaked. Victoria is returning for season two this month and a third season was recently confirmed, so the interest in the former monarch will likely continue.

Princess Margaret had the 37th most viewed Wikipedia page this year, with 10.7 million views. The increased interest in Princess Margaret's life is thanks to The Crown season two, which took an in-depth look at the royal's story. The page's popularity exploded on December 10, just after The Crown season two was released.

Last but certainly not least, Prince Philip's Wikipedia page placed 44th on the list with 10.2 million views in 2017. The 96-year-old royal's page spiked on May 4th, when he announced his plan to retire from royal duties after over 70 years of service. Even though he's now retired, Philip is still making headlines. Philip celebrated an incredible milestone with the Queen this year: their 70th wedding anniversary.
