John Lennon and Paul McCartney's Sons Are Perfect Copies of Their Dads in This New Photo
As one half of the Beatles, John Lennon and Paul McCartney undoubtedly had one of the most influential partnerships in the history of music. While the duo's personal relationship was rocky in the later years of the band, they nonetheless hold an iconic status in the public's imagination.
It's hardly a surprise then, that a photo of their sons posing together (with a guitar, no less!) has sent the internet into a mini-Beatlemania all its own.
Posted to Sean Lennon's Instagram account on August 14th, the photo shows Lennon alongside a guitar-wielding James McCartney, playfully captioned, "Peekaboo..."
The two have plenty in common besides the striking resemblance to their famous fathers. Lennon is the only son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, while McCartney is the only boy among Paul McCartney's five children.
Both have also chosen to carry on their parents' legacies by becoming musicians themselves—McCartney tours as a singer/songwriter, while Lennon has worked on albums, film scores, and even plays with the Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band. Last year he released a song he co-wrote with his close friend, actress Carrie Fisher, in honor of her passing.
There's no word yet on whether we can dare to hope for a Lennon-McCartney 2.0 team-up, but Lennon's no stranger to hanging out with the McCartney kids. In January 2017, he was photographed with James's older sister (and Meghan Markle favorite) Stella at an event for her eponymous fashion label.
Though Paul and John had a famous falling out toward the end of the Beatles recording career, and for several years after the band broke up, Paul maintained an affection for the Lennon children, penning the beloved song "Hey Jude" for Lennon's son his first marriage, Julian. The stars began reconnecting in the time before Lennon's tragic death, with McCartney referring to Lennon as "one of my best friends," earlier this year at a rally protesting gun violence.
