How the Royal Family Celebrated Meghan Markle's Birthday

The Duchess of Sussex turned 37 over the weekend.

In the months following her wedding to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle has had several royal first: her first Buckingham Palace balcony appearance at Trooping the Colour, her first international royal trip to Dublin, and her first appearance at Royal Ascot, to name just a few.

But Saturday, August 4, marked the Duchess of Sussex's first birthday as a member of the British royal family, and her new in-laws sent her their best wishes on the big day.

For example, the Clarence House social media accounts, posted this photo of Meghan, Prince Charles, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, at a Buckingham Palace garden party along with the caption "Wishing HRH The Duchess of Sussex a very Happy Birthday."

And the official Instagram account of the royal family posted a candid from Meghan's first solo engagement with the Queen in Cheshire captioned, "Happy Birthday to HRH The Duchess of Sussex! #HappyBirthdayHRH"

Kensington Palace's Instagram, the account which posts messages from not only Harry and Meghan, but also Prince William and Duchess Kate, shared a photo of Meghan solo, along with a thank you to fans of the Duchess of Sussex.

"Thank you everyone for your lovely messages on The Duchess of Sussex's birthday! #HappyBirthdayHRH," reads the caption.

Meghan spent her birthday celebrating the wedding of Prince Harry's close childhood friend Charlie van Straubenzee and his bride Daisy Jenks in Surrey. Meghan and Harry, who was reportedly the best man at the ceremony, were spotted leaving the event hand-in-hand.
