On September 1, Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, and Princess Anne attended the Braemar Royal Highland Gathering at Princess Royal and Duke of Fife Memorial Park, Braemar in Scotland. Considered the biggest even in the Highland Game calendar, it has become a tradition for the reigning monarch to spend time at the games since Queen Victoria first attended the Braemar Gathering in 1848. The annual Highland Games event is held a short distance from Balmoral estate, considered by many to be the Queen's favorite residence. This year, the Queen The Duke of Rothesay Highland Games Pavilion on site, with a museum dedicated to the history of the games. See all of the photos from the celebration here.
