Queen Elizabeth Is the Most Popular Royal, Followed Closely by Prince Harry

A new poll reveals how favorably the royals are seen in the U.K.-from Meghan Markle to Prince Charles.

Queen Elizabeth is Britain's longest-reigning monarch—but her people still haven't had enough of her.

In a new YouGov poll, which consisted of 9,404 interviews with members of the British public, the Queen is rated as the most popular royal, with 72 percent of respondents reporting a positive opinion of her. Among women, she ranks even higher, at 77 percent—and with the Baby Boomer generation, she tops out at 78 percent. The British monarch is described by voters as "admirable, hard working, respected, dignified, and dedicated."

Meanwhile, the Queen's grandsons, Prince Harry and Prince William, came in close behind her in the rankings. Prince Harry boasted a 71 percent overall rating, a couple points ahead of Prince William at 69 percent. After that come Kate Middleton and Prince Philip, followed by Meghan Markle and Prince Charles—who both came in just under 50 percent.

Interestingly, while royal fans are more heavily concentrated in the Baby Boomer generation overall, Meghan Markle's favorability is highest among millennials.

After Prince Charles, the list is largely composed of the lesser-known royals, with Prince Andrew coming in last at 21 percent—hardly a surprise, given how his name has been mentioned in recent headlines about the Jeffrey Epstein case.
