Queen Elizabeth Is Reportedly a Fan of Josh O'Connor, Who Plays Prince Charles in The Crown
Josh O'Connor, who's set to play Prince Charles, reportedly has a very important fan. "A crew member came to me one day and distracted me by talking about The Durrells," O'Connor told the Radio Times. (The Durrells is a British comedy show that O'Connor also stars in.)
As the crew member's story continued, O'Connor lost the thread. "Previously, they had taken a photo of me [dressed as Prince Charles] and sent it to someone, who’d sent it to someone else, who’d then sent it to someone else. As they were explaining it, I’d lost interest about who’d the photo had been sent to... The crew member said that someone who saw the picture told him, 'I loved him in The Durrells, it’s one of my favorite shows.' I just said, 'Oh, that’s good,' thanked him and walked off."
O'Connor later learned that it was Queen Elizabeth herself who had complimented him. "This crew member has managed to get this picture of me to the Queen who’d said that she loved me in The Durrells! The real-life Queen!" he said. "So we have another fan! It was a great thing for us. We were so pleased."
And as Express reported in 2017 that the Queen had watched The Crown's first season, there's a good chance the monarch will continue to follow O'Connor's career as he transitions into onscreen royalty.
