Most people know her as the Queen of England, but Elizabeth II is actually the monarch of 16 different countries. A vestige of Great Britain's former colonial empire, these states, known as the Commonwealth realms, recognize Elizabeth as their Queen, but are otherwise wholly independent sovereign states.

Read on for the full list of countries along with photos from royal tours to the regions.

ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA

In late fall of 2016, Prince Harry visited the Caribbean in celebration of the 35th anniversary of independence in Antigua and Barbuda. Here, he takes a boat tour in the mangroves around the island of Barbuda, which was tragically decimated by Hurricane Irma.
