In honor of their first solo event together, the Queen gave Meghan a very sweet present: a pair of earrings. Naturally, Meghan wore the small pearl studs while on her royal visit to Cheshire with her grandmother-in-law, the monarch.

Several royal reporters confirmed the news with Buckingham Palace this morning, and shared their intel via Twitter.

The newly named Duchess of Sussex paired the jewelry with a bespoke, oat-colored dress by Givenchy, a black belt, black pointy-toed pumps, and a black clutch, and looked very ladylike for her day of engagements with the Queen. She also kept her beauty look simple, with a sleek blowout, black eyeliner, and pink lipstick.

After arriving at Runcorn Station by royal train this morning, Meghan and the Queen opened the Mersey Gateway Bridge. Then, they headed to a local theater called The Storyhouse, where they took in a performance. Later today, they'll enjoy lunch at the Town Hall in Chester.

While most of the events today were very exciting, the royal duo also marked the one-year anniversary of the Grenfell Tower tragedy with a moment of silence.

Eager to "hit the ground running" in her work as a royal, Meghan is having her first solo appearance with the Queen quite quickly, less than a month after she married Prince Harry. In comparison, the Duchess of Cambridge's first solo appearance with the monarch wasn't until a year after she married Prince William.

Additionally, it's notably that Meghan traveled overnight on the royal train to Cheshire with the Queen. It is rumored that neither Harry nor Kate has done that before.

"Per People, Meghan is "the first of the younger generation of royals to score a ride on the royal train for an official outing with Queen Elizabeth," indicating that she is quickly being welcomed into the royal family.
