Months after rumors first started swirling about the couple, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have finally made an official appearance.

The pair arrived together at the 2019 National Portrait Gallery Gala this evening, an event which fellow royal Kate Middleton also happened to be attending. Based on the photos, Edoardo was very excited about the situation.

Princess Beatrice wore what appeared to be a patterned, belted red dress, paired with tights and black heels. Two bracelets, one thick and one thin, finished off the simple-yet-regal look.

While their romance is new, Beatrice and Edoardo have known each other for some time, as their parents run in similar circles. Sarah Ferguson even follows Edoardo on Twitter—although it's unclear how long she's done so.

Edoardo's stepfather was Christopher Shale, a British political operative and close friend of previous Prime Minister David Cameron, who died at the Glastonbury music festival in 2011. Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson considered Shale a friend as well, and went to his funeral—as did Beatrice.

Princess Beatrice and Edoardo were also reportedly both in attendance at a 2014 wedding in Puglia, Italy—where Edoardo may or may not have gotten into a little bit of trouble, per the Daily Mail.

After they were reacquainted recently, however, it seems have gotten serious quickly. "They hit it off instantly and have a real laugh together," a source told the Sun."They’ve been on holiday together and Beatrice introduced him to Fergie and her dad. Things are moving very quickly and it wouldn’t surprise anyone if they got engaged within a short period of time."
