Prince William Is Sending Photos of Himself to Thank Those Who Wished Him Happy Birthday
If you write a royal, you'll often get something in return—and those who sent letters to Prince William congratulating him on his 36th birthday are getting something any true fan will appreciate.
The Duke of Cambridge thanked well-wishers with a sweet message, but the real prize was a headshot of the man in question. Prince William used a portrait taken by photographer Norman Jean Roy for British GQ, essentially turning a thank you card into a small poster for collectors.
The news comes from devout royal watcher Bradley Donovan-Baird, who quickly posted the letter on Instagram. "I've been writing to British and European royals since 2016," he told Hello!. "Since then I have amassed a collection of nearly 70 royal replies from all over Europe... Of course, I still get excited every time I receive a royal reply."
If you missed out on the Prince's portrait, never fear. It's too late to wish William a happy birthday (that was back in June), but there's another recent royal development that deserves some celebration: Meghan Markle's pregnancy.
Replies aren't guaranteed, but Meghan and Prince Harry have thanked their fans in the past. Following their wedding, the couple sent out a black and white photo of themselves on their big day.
Try your luck with a letter addressed to Clarence House (that's where their mail is opened, even though the Sussexes live in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace).
It's worth a try—as Donovan-Baird says, receiving a letter from a royal is always a thrill.
