Prince William's Comment to Princess Charlotte in a Rare Royal Family Video Is Stumping the Internet

Wait, what did he say?!

Kensington Palace released a rare video of Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis the other day, and the entire Cambridge clan looked absolutely adorable.

All five visited the Chelsea Flower Show exhibit for a sneak preview on Sunday, and luckily the footage made it to social media. The Duchess of Cambridge co-designed this year's woodland-themed "Back to Nature" display, complete with a rope swing, waterfall, treehouse, and garden den. It's no wonder the kids had an absolute blast and gave their mom rave reviews.

How many marks out of ???? for the #RHSChelsea Back to Nature Garden, Prince George?

"What would you give it out of 10?" Prince William asked George in the short clip. His reply? "Twenty!" But while that part of the video contains captions, the Duke says something else to Princess Charlotte that has royal fans in an intense debate.

The prevailing theory on social media is that William uses the term of endearment "mignonette" as a sweet nickname for Princess Charlotte. It's the diminutive form of the French word mignon, meaning dainty or darling, according to Merriam-Webster, similar to saying "cutie" or "sweetie."

Some viewers think he's actually asking Charlotte about the rope swing. "I don't think he is calling her anything," one Instagram user commented. 'I hear the end of the question "Have you been on it?" With us hearing the "been on it" part.' That would also make sense, given that he then asks for a push. (Charlotte would rather run off to do her own thing, of course.)

A few other Instagrammers heard the words "beetle head" — another possible nickname, perhaps? Since the palace took a pass on transcribing whatever Wills actually said, there's only way to find out. Vote in the poll below to settle it once and for all:

VOTE: What do you think Prince William actually said to Princess Charlotte?

"Been on it?"

This isn't the only time the royals have gotten casual at the Chelsea Flower Show. The first year Kate Middleton visited the annual horticultural competition, reporters caught her using a sweet nickname for her husband: babe! How cute are they?!
