Prince Philip's Pet Name for the Queen Is Beyond Adorable
Prince George may call his great-grandmother Gan-Gan, but the Duke of Edinburgh officially has the sweetest nickname for the Queen.
Prince Philip, who has been married to Elizabeth for almost 70 years, affectionately refers to his wife as "cabbage."
It's unclear where the hilarious moniker came from, but biographer Robert Lacey confirmed it to The Sunday Times back in 2006, saying, "Yes, I've heard that is how he will sometimes refer to her."
The paper questioned if it might have originated with the French phrase "mon petit chou," which translates to "my little cabbage," but also "my little pastry puff."
While hers is perhaps the most perplexing, Queen Elizabeth is hardly the only royal with an endearing nickname. Prince William reportedly refers to Duchess Kate as "poppet." In turn, Kate has been known to call him "babe."
Clearly pet names run in the family.
