What Will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Wedding Invitations Look Like?

Following the announcement of Prince Harry's engagement to American actress Meghan Markle, Kensington Palace issued a statement about the upcoming nuptials, which read, "This wedding, like all weddings, will be a moment of fun and joy that will reflect the characters of the Bride and Groom."

While we're looking forward to seeing how Markle and Prince Harry put their own touches on the wedding ceremony at St. George's Chapel, we'd be willing to bet their invitations will be fairly traditional. When it comes to wedding ephemera, royals tend to keep things classic, particularly because the mailings are always sent in the name of Queen Elizabeth II.

When Mel B. spilled the beans about the Spice Girls reunion at the reception, she confirmed our suspicions, describing the invitation as "proper." "It was proper, yes," she revealed. "I've said enough."

Likely, Meghan and Harry's invitation won't stray too far from Prince William and Duchess Kate's. Their invitation (below) was printed on a thick, eight-by-six-inch white card and features the Queen's stamp in gold with the text printed in black.

Prince Edward and Sophie Rhys-Jones's invitation (below) was also quite similar.

While the aesthetic of the invitation is fairly established, Markle, who used to be a freelance calligrapher, will likely have thoughts about the style of penmanship used to print the guests' names.

Fortunately, we won't have to wait too long to find out what the invites look like.

Back in 2011, invitations for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's April 29 wedding went out in early February, and save-the-dates were sent via fax in January. While Will and Kate invited 1,900 to their wedding, St. George's Chapel has a capacity of only 800.
