What Wedding Gifts Will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Ask For?

Because they certainly aren't registered at Bed Bath & Beyond.

It's hard enough buying wedding gifts for the average bride and groom. What price point is appropriate? Do I stick to the registry or go rogue? But concerns like these are nothing compared to what guests invited to the royal wedding might have. Because no matter how nice that stainless steel trash can is, it just won't cut it for an actual prince.

Fortunately for those would-be shoppers, it's likely that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will ask for donations in lieu of gifts.

As Harpers Bazaar UK pointed out, that's exactly what the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge did when they wed back in 2011, and given Prince Harry and Markle's extensive charitable work, odds are we'll see them follow in Will and Kate's footsteps.

"Having been touched by the goodwill shown them since the announcement of their engagement, Prince William and Miss Middleton have asked that anyone who might wish to give them a wedding gift consider giving instead to a charitable fund," read a statement from Clarence House at the time.

"Many of the charities are little known, without existing royal patronage, and undertake excellent work within specific communities. They are charities that have a particular resonance with Prince William and Miss Middleton and reflect issues in which the couple have been particularly interested in their lives to date."

Such a fund has yet to be announced for Prince Harry and his bride-to-be, but one might imagine it would benefit organizations close to the royal's heart such as the Invictus Games, Sentebale, and Head's Together, among other charities.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle plan to wed this May at St. George's Chapel in front of a crowd of about 800 guests.
