It got a little (adorably, endearingly) awkward:
To be fair, this isn't usually a role the husband-to-be plays. At Prince William's wedding to Kate Middleton, it was the bride's father, Michael Middleton, who removed the veil.
Meghan's veil was an elaborate—if etherial—counterpoint to her simple, chic Givency gown by British designer Clare Waight Keller with no embroidery or beading. Waight Keller made the veil as well, which had delicate embroidery along the edges. Read more about its special meaning here.
