Prince Charles Actually Sent Out Two Christmas Cards This Year

Classic Charles overachieving.

While most families were rummaging through their year in photos, searching for just one perfect picture for their Christmas card, Prince Charles was doing double duty.

The Prince of Wales sent two cards out this holiday season: one for Christmas, with his wife Camilla, and one of just himself, thanking those who wished him a happy 70th birthday. We got a peek at that first photo earlier this month, when the royal family released it alongside Prince Harry's photo—featuring his new wife Meghan Markle, of course—and Prince William's with Kate Middleton and their three young children.

The image, taken just after Prince Louis's Christening earlier this year, shows Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, on a bench together. (The bench seems to a recurring theme this year, what with the family portrait released in celebration of Charles's 70th birthday in November centered around that same piece of furniture.)

Now, thanks to Instagram fan account @royal.addicted, we've gotten a look at the second Christmastime letter. It's a thank you card, given as a reply to those who sent a letter to Prince Charles wishing him a happy birthday.

It features a photo of Charles in a tux and bowtie, seated in what appears to be an antique chair. "The Prince of Wales was very touched you took the trouble to write as you did on the occasion of his 70th Birthday," the card reads. "His Royal Highness greatly appreciated your thoughtfulness and sends you his warmest thanks and very best wishes."
