The royal family is famously non-political. But exactly what that means is open to interpretation by both the public and members of the royal family themselves.

But as Brexit negotiations continue, with no set plan for the U.K.'s departure from the E.U., it's clear that the royals are being used as instruments of soft diplomacy, or subtle international influence.

Since the Brexit vote in 2016, we've seen members of the royal family visit a number of E.U. countries as pseudo "Brexit ambassadors," hoping to foster a positive relationship with nearby nations.

This morning, Clarence House announced that Prince Charles and Camilla will be traveling to Germany next month, likely for this very reason.

Here's what we know about their trip so far:

THEY'LL BE TRAVELING TO BERLIN, LEIPZIG, AND MUNICH DURING THE FOUR-DAY TOUR.

The trip will take place from May 7 through May 10.

THE TRIP IS BEING TAKEN "AT THE REQUEST OF THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT."

Per an announcement from Clarence House this morning, the visit "will celebrate the UK-Germany relationship and its enduring importance to both countries."

WHILE IN GERMANY CHARLES AND CAMILLA WILL ATTEND A NUMBER OF CULTURAL ENGAGEMENTS, AND THEY WILL ALSO MEET WITH LOCAL POLITICIANS.

Currently announced plans include meeting with Germany's President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and attending a party at the British Ambassador's residence in Berlin, as well as taking on engagements that highlight the issues they have chosen to champion back home.

For example, per Clarence House, Prince Charles will focus on partnerships for green growth, sustainable organic produce and economic cooperation, while Camilla "will engage with women who have suffered domestic abuse as part of her commitment to support victims of domestic violence in the UK and overseas."

BOTH CHARLES AND CAMILLA HAVE TRAVELED TO GERMANY ON OFFICIAL VISITS PREVIOUSLY.

Most recently, they made an official visit to Germany together in 2009.
