No, she wasn't trying to get her to do an interview.

Before the royal wedding, rumors circulated that Meghan Markle's mom, Doria Ragland, was being courted by Oprah Winfrey for an in-depth interview. Ragland was seen hanging out with Oprah, prompting speculation that a TV special was in the works.

But in reality, the two women were simply new friends doing yoga and having lunch.

"The story was that Meghan's mom had come to my house and she left laden with gifts," Oprah told ET at the premiere of Love Is __, a new drama coming to OWN. "You know what the gifts were? First of all, she's great at yoga, so I said, 'Bring your yoga mat and your sneaks in case we just want to do yoga on the lawn.' So one of the bags was a yoga mat and the other was lunch."

Indeed, Ragland is quite the yogi. In a 2014 post on her lifestyle website the Tig, Markle described her as such: "Dreadlocks. Nose ring. Yoga instructor. Social worker. Free spirit. Lover of potato chips & lemon tarts."

Ragland is also, apparently a fan of kumquats.

"She said, 'I love kumquats,' and I said, 'I have a kumquat tree! You want some kumquats?' So it was a basket of kumquats, people," Oprah revealed.

"For all of the people who said I am getting her gifts and I'm trying to bribe her for an interview—they were kumquats. If kumquats can get you an interview, I’m all for it!"

During the red carpet interview, Oprah also described Harry and Meghan's wedding, which she attended, as a "cultural moment."

"It was more than a wedding, I thought," she said. "It was a cultural moment. And you could not be there or watching on television… and not feel that there was a shift that just happened in the middle of it."

"I think it's bigger than them and I think it bodes well for hope for all of us."
