Yesterday, Prince Louis was surrounded by family and friends as he was christened in the Chapel Royal at St. James’s Palace in London. On the list of the royal baby's godparents announced by Kensington Palace was Nicholas van Cutsem, a close childhood friend of both Prince William and Prince Harry.

Here's everything you need to know about Louis's new godfather.

HIS FATHER, HUGH VAN CUTSEM SR., WAS GOOD FRIENDS WITH PRINCE CHARLES AT CAMBRIDGE.

Hugh and his wife Emilie were neighbors to the Queen in Sandringham, the royal estate in Norfolk, England. Hugh Sr. passed away in 2013, but the family has remained close with the royals. He had four sons: Nicholas, Edward, William, and Hugh Jr. Notably, Edward is Charles’ godson and served as one of two page boys in his wedding to Princess Diana.

NICHOLAS AND HIS WIFE ALICE VAN CUTSEM (NÉE HADDEN-PATTON) WERE MARRIED IN 2009.

Prince William and Kate both attended the nuptials, with Will serving as an usher. Alice's brother Harry is an actor who has appeared in The Crown and Downton Abbey and is now starring in My Fair Lady on Broadway.

HE IS A FORMER MAJOR IN THE HOUSEHOLD CAVALRY’S LIFE GUARDS.

He is now reportedly "an international business developer." In 2011, he was accused of assaulting a fellow soldier during a military exercise, but following an investigation by military police, he was cleared of the charge and no action was taken, according to the Telegraph

Nicholas is good friends with both William and Harry, despite being, at 41, several years older than both royal brothers. Harry is Florence van Cutsem's godfather, and she served as Meghan Markle's bridesmaid at the royal wedding back in May.

HIS BROTHER WILLIAM VAN CUTSEM IS PRINCE GEORGE’S GODFATHER.

Perhaps William showed Nicholas's brother the ropes before yesterday's baptism ceremony.

Other godparents of Prince Louis include Will and Kate's close friends Guy Pelly, Harry Aubrey-Fletcher, Lady Laura Meade, Mrs. Robert Carter (otherwise known as Hannah Gillingham), and Kate's first cousin Lucy Middleton.

While there were no photos or video of the ceremony, we saw the royal family, the Middletons, and Prince Louis's godparents and their spouses enter and leave St. James’s Palace in London. Formal portraits taken by Matt Holyoak will likely be released later this week.
