When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their plans to wed, Kensington Palace released a statement saying,"This wedding, like all weddings, will be a moment of fun and joy that will reflect the characters of the Bride and Groom."

One such personal touch on the day? Meghan Markle will reportedly make a toast at the reception.

According to Britain's Sunday Times, Markle is planning to speak at her wedding. Per the paper, the bride will make an "'affectionate' tribute to her new husband and will offer thanks to the Queen, her family, and friends." And it might even include a joke or two.

It is customary for the father of the bride to be the one manning the microphone, but the paper's anonymous source suggests that Tom Markle, Meghan's father, might shy away from the spotlight, and this would fill that gap. It also illustrates that Markle and Prince Harry have no qualms breaking from tradition, especially ones tinged with patriarchy.

"The feeling is if Meghan’s father doesn’t speak for her, she wants to have the chance to thank her husband and everyone who has supported them. Harry thinks it’s a great idea," the source says.

Given that Markle is a seasoned actress with experience speaking in front of large crowds (like the 2015 UN Women's conference), we can't wait to hear what she has to say.
