Meghan Markle Is Officially a Professional Royal

Markle is joining Will, Kate, and Harry as a royal foundation patron.

Meghan Markle has marked a lot of royal firsts since she and Prince Harry revealed that they were engaged in November. And today, the Palace announced Markle was just given her first official job within the royal family: charity patron.

Markle will become the fourth patron of the Royal Foundation following her wedding this May. The future Princess will join her fiancé Prince Harry and soon-to-be in-laws, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who are currently patrons of the foundation. In her new role, Markle will join the royals in supporting their existing charitable work and will be able to take on her own causes close to her heart. Markle is expertly suited for this new royal role: she is a lifelong humanitarian who previously worked with the Clean Water Campaign and as an advocate for women with the United Nations.

The Palace also announced the Markle will join Prince William, Duchess Kate, and Prince Harry at a forum to showcase the foundation's work on February 28:

This will mark Will, Kate, Harry, and Meghan's second appearance together as a group of four. They were previously spotted attending church together on Christmas day.

The Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry was officially formed in 2011 as a way for the royals to pursue their charitable interests. William, Harry, and Kate have taken on a number of causes through their foundation, including their mental health initiative and Heads Together organization and the Invictus Games, the sports competition founded by Prince Harry for wounded servicemen and servicewomen. We can't wait to see what causes Markle decides to pursue in her new role with the foundation!
