The citizens of Sussex turned out in droves this morning to meet their Duke and Duchess, but one fan in particular caught Meghan's attention with a sweet message for her "mum," Doria Ragland.

During one of the day's walkabouts, a royal enthusiast, who goes by both Jennifer and @LadySassington on Twitter, said to Meghan, "Please tell your mum I love her."

Meghan then shook her hand and replied, "Oh I will! We have that in common, don't we?"

The sweet interaction was all captured on video here:

Over the past few months as the British public has gotten to know Meghan, they've also been introduced to her mother, and clearly Doria made an impression. Meghan's mom, a yoga teacher and social worker from California, was front and center at the royal wedding, beaming with pride as her daughter walked down the aisle.

And just a few weeks ago, she was there to mark the debut of Meghan's first solo charity project, the Together cookbook, which raises money for the Hubb Kitchen in London.

While at the launch party at Kensington Palace, Doria adorably introduced herself as "Meg's mom," and spoke with the women whose recipes fill the book.

"I'm just as excited as you are. I'm so glad I can put the face with the recipes. I'm going to make everything," Doria said. "The power of women. We make things happen. We're curious, we say yes, we show up. I'm inspired."

Her presence at the event was an indication that while Meghan has joined the royal family, she isn't leaving her mom behind. Lady Sassington's comments this morning are reassurance that the British public wouldn't want her to.
