The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have no shortage of family heirlooms to one day pass on to their children. From Princess Diana's aquamarine cocktail ring to the Duchess's sentimental engagement ring, there are countless precious gems for Harry and Meghan to gift their future family. But a newly-unearthed interview featuring the former actress reveals yet another special item she hopes to give to her future daughter that also has a meaningful connection to Princess Diana: a Cartier Tank watch.

Back in 2015, Markle revealed to Hello! magazine that she purchased a Cartier Tank watch to celebrate the success of Suits. "I’ve always coveted the Cartier French Tank watch," Markle told the magazine. "When I found out Suits had been picked up for our third season–which, at the time, felt like such a milestone–I totally splurged and bought the two-tone version."

To make the purchase even more meaningful, Markle thoughtfully engraved the watch with a sweet message. "I had it engraved on the back, 'To M.M. From M.M.' and I plan to give it to my daughter one day. That’s what makes pieces special, the connection you have to them."

The Cartier Tank watch also pays tribute to Meghan's late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, who was a longtime fan of the iconic design. Diana reportedly owned two versions of the iconic watch: a Tank Louis Cartier and an all-gold Tank Française, according to the New York Times.

The iconic Cartier Tank watch was invented in 1917 by Louis Cartier. The design has stood the test of time, and Cartier released a new collection of Tank watches last year in honor of the Tank's 100th anniversary. Meghan and Princess Diana aren't the only famous fans of the Cartier watch: Jackie Kennedy Onassis wore her Tank watch frequently. Last year, Kim Kardashian West purchased the former first lady's personalized version at auction for a whopping $395,000.

Meghan's touching tribute to her future daughter is yet another hint that the royal is eager to become a mother. Both Harry and Meghan have revealed their desire to have kids in the past. But don't count on the royals having a big family: just last month, Harry joked to a well-wisher in Ireland that five children was "too many."

Harry and Meghan have been laying low since they celebrated Meghan's birthday at the wedding of Harry's close friend, Charlie Van Straubenzee, in early August. The royals are expected to visit the Queen later this month during her annual summer holiday at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.
