  • Meghan Markle wore jeans from Outland Denim during her Australia tour.
  • The company supports victims of sex trafficking in Cambodia.
  • Outland Denim’s founders said they were “as surprised as anyone” she wore their brand.

When Meghan Markle landed in Dubbo, Australia as part of her royal visit with Prince Harry, she wore a blazer designed by her friend, Serena Williams, and denim that support an incredible cause.

Meghan wore black jeans from Outland Denim, an Australian company which provides jobs to survivors of the sex trafficking industry and women at risk of falling into poverty in Cambodia. The company was founded in 2011 after James Bartle met with an anti-trafficking group and learned how important it was to set up women with career paths after being rescued from the sex trafficking industry. The company started with five seamstresses, and now employs 45.

“We cannot think of a more suitable woman to carry the Outland Denim brand,” the company wrote on Instagram. “A big thank you to the Duchess of Sussex (and bump!) for choosing to wear Outland Denim on this royal tour! Meghan wears the high-rise Harriet jean in Black.” The jeans, which retail for $195, are sold out through their U.S. website but are available for BritishCanadian, and Australian shoppers.

James and Erica Bartle told the Australian Associated Press they didn’t know for sure Meghan would be wearing their jeans. "We were as surprised as anyone this morning to see her in them," Erica said. "We had an inclination our jeans would be part of the tour, but we never received confirmation."
