Meghan Markle has reportedly been making secret visits to survivors and relatives of victims who lost their lives in the Grenfell Tower tragedy last year.

The 36-year-old actress and philanthropist has "been regularly making private visits to organizations as she gets to know the U.K. charity sector," a source told The Telegraph. Markle is reported to have visited the Al Manaar community mosque—which is situated close to the remains of the Grenfell Tower in west London—accompanied by royal security and an aide, but without fiancé Prince Harry.

Speaking to The Mirror, survivors of the June 2017 blaze revealed how visits from Markle "mean so much" to the community. Harry and Prince William visited the same mosque last September to support those affected by the fire.

Abdulrahman Sayed - chief executive of the Al Manaar mosque—revealed there have been three trips to the mosque by members of the royal family since Harry and William's official visit.

The mosque was one of the first centers to respond in the aftermath of the tragic blaze by providing food, water, and shelter to those in need.

Markle's private charity work is similar to the secret campaigning by Princess Diana, who would often make personal visits to support homeless people in shelters at night when she was living in Kensington Palace.

Last December, members of the royal family joined survivors of the fire and families of the bereaved at a memorial service held exactly six months after the tragedy on 14 June.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry were invited to remember the 71 people who lost their lives in the disaster, and to speak to some of the families affected. Meghan's private act of support is a touching reminder of Princess Diana's charitable life as a royal.
