Meghan Markle Has Already Mastered Duchess Kate's Signature Pose
It seems Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge has already taught her future sister-in-law a royal essential: the proper way to pose while seated.
Meghan Markle and Duchess Kate made their first official royal appearance together yesterday at the Royal Foundation Forum alongside Prince William and Prince Harry. The soon-to-be-in-laws wore color-coordinated ensembles (both were in gorgeous blue dresses), and both women were spotted in Kate's signature sitting pose, the Duchess Slant.
"Typically ‘the Duchess Slant’ is used when a lady has to sit for an extended amount of time while keeping poise and posture," Beaumont Etiquette founder and royal etiquette expert Myka Meier told People. "It is the perfect pose for when a camera is shooting directly in front of you because by slightly slanting the knees to create a zig-zag effect when wearing a dress or skirt, your legs are angled so that the camera only shoots the sides of your legs and protects your modesty." Meier adds that it's also a flattering seated position because it lengthens the look of your legs.

Princess Diana was also famously photographed at the Taj Mahal sitting the same pose in 1992:

Like the royal curtsy Markle debuted on Christmas day, it looks like the future royal has already perfected this move.
