Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex was safely delivered of a son at 0526hrs this morning. The baby weighs 7lbs 3oz. The Duke of Sussex was present for the birth. The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer have been informed and are delighted with the news. The Duchess’s mother, Doria Ragland, who is overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild, is with Their Royal Highnesses at Frogmore Cottage. Her Royal Highness and the baby are both doing well.
The Queen's statement was shared by other members of the royal family, including Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Additionally, the statement also revealed that Princess Diana's siblings, Lady Jane Fellows, Lady Sarah McCorquodale, and Earl Spencer, were also delighted with the baby's arrival. Meghan Markle's mother, Doria, was similarly "overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild."
Baby Sussex is also Queen Elizabeth's eighth great-grandchild and is now seventh in line to the throne just after Prince Harry. He is also Prince Charles's fourth grandchild, joining Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
On the other side of the family, Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, is also excited for her first grandchild. Regland has shared a statement about the new royal baby, revealing that she is "overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild."
Like many of Hollywood's elite, Priyanka Chopra is busy getting ready for her Met Gala appearance today—but she still took a moment to commemorate the new royal baby. She repurposed Meghan and Harry's Instagram post, which announced the newborn's gender, in a cute Instagram story slide. "Congratulations M & H," she wrote.
Meghan and Michelle Obama aren't longtime pals, but the former First Lady did meet with the Duchess recently, backstage after one of her book tour events. The pair reportedly "spoke at length about the importance of supporting and empowering women across all cultures and communities," according to a source for the Evening Standard. "They also talked about shared experiences of pregnancy and raising children, plus shared causes including girls’ education."
Based on the way Obama reacted to Baby Sussex's birth, she's hoping to continue her friendship with the Duchess. See her touching message to Harry and Meghan below.

Another one of Meghan's former Suits castmates—and onscreen love interest—Patrick Adams also wrote a touching note to Meghan, Harry, and their newborn. "#playdatesoon," he added at the end.
Just heard that the world just got heavier by 7 pounds and 3 ounces. Much love to him and his incredible parents. Learned first hand 7 months ago how transformational becoming a parent is and couldn’t be happier for Meghan and Harry as they begin this adventure. #playdatesoon— Patrick J Adams (@halfadams) May 6, 2019
