This morning, alongside Meghan Markle's new coat of arms, Kensington Palace also shared our first look at the newly named Duchess of Sussex's letterhead.

Duchess Meghan's cypher, which is kind of like a royal monogram, features a script uppercase 'M' underneath a coronet. It is very similar to the cyphers of Prince Harry, Prince William, and the Duchess of Cambridge.

The crown above the 'M' appears to be the one approved by a Royal Warrant of 1917 for the sons and daughters of the heir apparent. It features two crosses patée (a type of Christian cross), four fleurs-de-lys and two strawberry leaves, though not all of them are seen on the letterhead.

That coronet is also featured in the Duchess of Sussex's new coat of arms (below), which also pays homage to her home state of California.

Stationery and letter writing are very important to Meghan. Not only did she work as a calligrapher, but she also called herself a "firm believer of handwritten notes" in personal essay written for Elle's UK edition.

"'What are you?' A question I get asked every week of my life, often every day," starts the piece. "'Well,' I say, as I begin the verbal dance I know all too well. 'I'm an actress, a writer, the editor-in-chief of my lifestyle brand The Tig, a pretty good cook and a firm believer in handwritten notes.'"

Letterwriting a habit Meghan shares with her late mother-in-law. Princess Diana reportedly wrote multiple thank you notes a day. We expect Meghan to follow in her footsteps as she carves out her own place within the royal family.
