Meghan Markle Channeled Carolyn Bessette in This Classic Look
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had a night on the town for the annual Endeavour Fund Awards tonight in London. The formal ceremony honors ill or injured military service members who've used sport as part of their recovery.
Prince Harry dressed in a dapper grey suit and tie, while his expecting wife wore a long black skirt with thigh-high slit, white button-down shirt and her hair pulled into a sleek chignon. Her outfit was designed by one of her go-to designers Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy. Markle also sported a glow that could only be attributed to pregnancy or a long Mediterranean vacation. Her timeless look was undeniably reminiscent of 90's style icon Carolyn Bessette.
Back in March of 1999, Bessette wore a classic button down paired with a maxi skirt with ruffled hem to a fundraising gala for the Whitney Museum while on the arm of husband, John F. Kennedy Jr. As the PR Director at Calvin Klein, Bessette naturally gravitated towards minimal and understated looks.
The famously private couple garnered much attention from paparazzi and in the press until their untimely death in July of 1999. Similarly, the Duke and Duchess are constant targets, especially now that they're expecting their first child in the spring.
A few of Markle's close friends recently spoke out to People magazine about all the negative press that constantly surrounds the Duchess of Sussex. Friends and former co-workers raised concerns about how the negativity might be affecting her pregnancy, meanwhile Markle has remained quiet and just endured the lies and never-ending rumor-mill.
