Every year, Wimbledon brings together the greatest tennis players from around the world for a highly-anticipated tournament. But beyond the boldface names competing in the matches, fans can also expect to see numerous members of the British royal family holding court in the Royal Box.

In fact, royals attending Wimbledon is something of a tradition. Notably, Queen Elizabeth has been on hand to hand out trophies in previous years. And Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge is a patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, the organization that hosts Wimbledon. Last year, Kate attended twice: first alongside her new sister-in-law Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and later with Prince William, so we could expect to see her multiple times at the competition. July 1, 2019: Prince Edward, Duke of Kent attended the very first day of this year's Wimbledon tournament.

The Duke, who is the Queen's first cousin, is a familiar face at Wimbledon: he has been the President of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club since 1969. Each summer, he watches multiple matches at the tournament and presents trophies to the winners.
