Prince William and Kate Middleton React to Camila Cabello's Pencil Theft From Kensington Palace
Camila Cabello went to Kensington Palace, and has a pencil to prove it. The singer revealed in a recent interview that she'd succumbed to the pressure of a triple doggy dare and stolen something from the royal residence—and her hosts, Kate Middleton and Prince William, had a surprising response.
Cabello and BBC radio host Greg James talked about how it all went down on-air. James began, "We’re about to meet William and Kate and I said, ‘Steal something.’ I said, ‘Steal that pencil.'"
She took the bait. "And I was like, ‘You triple doggy dare me?" Cabello said—and indeed, he did. "You can’t not do a triple doggy dare," the singer explained. "If there’s anything I’ve learned in my life, it’s that. So I did it."
James didn't make it easy, though. "And then you, to one of the palace people, called me out on it and you were like, ‘She stole a pencil!’ And I was like, ‘Oh my god.” Cabello said. “I put it in my mom’s purse, and my mom’s like, ‘We have to give it back!’ and I’m like, ‘No, he triple doggy dared me, I have to take the pencil!'. So I still have it."
Cabello then apologized to her royal hosts. "I’m sorry William and I’m sorry Kate. I honestly couldn’t sleep last night. I had to get it off my chest."
After her public admission, the ball was in Prince William and Kate Middleton's court, and they lobbed it back with a sly response on Twitter. Underneath the BBC Radio 1 video of James and Cabello's conversation, Kensington Palace posted an 'eyes' emoji.
So yeah, Cabello, the future King and Queen know what you did—and they seem to find it thoroughly entertaining.
