Kate Middleton Receives a Special Gift for Prince Louis from Sneaker Designer Stan Smith
Prince Louis may be just one year old, but he's already a budding style icon. Last week, the royal toddler snatched a pair of sunglasses off his mother's head, and proceeded to rock them with preternatural swag. And, it seems, people in the fashion community are taking notice.
At Wimbledon on Sunday, former tennis champion Stan Smith—perhaps best-known these days for his eponymous Adidas kicks—slid Kate Middleton a very special gift for young Louis. The mini Stan Smiths were personalized, with "to Louis" written in gold on the side, followed by Smith's signature.
Louis is indeed walking these days, so he'll likely get some good use out of his sneakerhead-approved shoes. Sure, they're a little flashy for the sandbox, but Louis can pull anything off. Remember the Trooping the Colour parade earlier this summer, when he re-wore Prince Harry's decades-old outfit? Not just anyone could make those vintage threads seem so "now."
Louis could also, of course, wear the Stan Smiths for their intended purpose: playing tennis. Kate Middleton famously enjoys the sport, and the Cambridge family has a private court on their Norfolk property. Louis's older brother is already getting into the game—and he's likely pretty good, as he's had lessons from Roger Federer himself.
Last week, Federer told the Daily Star that Prince George has a "good swing," adding, "He’s a cute boy. I love to see they’re into tennis or into sports." Maybe now that Louis has some proper gear, George can show his little brother the ropes.
